Presidential Citation for 2009
The Florida Historical Society has, for the third time, honored Fredric M. Hitt and his historical novels on the early Florida Indians, a series that has come to be known as “The Timucuan Trilogy.”
FHS Executive Director Dr. Ben Brotemarkle presented the 2009 Presidential Citation to Judge Hitt upon the completion of The Last Timucuan. “It is an
outstanding contribution to Florida history,” Dr. Brotemarkle said at the FHS Annual Meeting, May 21 at Pensacola.
The first two novels, Wekiva Winter and Beyond the River of the Sun, were previously honored with the Patrick D. Smith Award as Best Florida Fiction for 2006 and 2008, respectively.
Good job, Judge Hitt!
